Rough Week for Brooke
Last week Brooke went to the Children’s Hospital to have her tonsils removed. Although very nervous, Brooke did very well before the surgery.
She recovered well and went home on Wednesday. Early Thursday morning, just after midnight, Kelli and woke her up to give her some medicine. I noticed she was a little warm. But we were told that a slight fever was normal. At 2:30 she was wide awake and screaming. Her fever was now over 102. We spent a long night trying to get the fever down and keeping her comfortable and headed to the dr first thing.
She tested positive for H1N1 that morning! But we were optimistic she would get through it ok. We headed home to let her rest. Late that night, she started vomiting. Thursday we tried our best to get any liquid in and keep it there. But it was futile and we ended up at the ER. And then stayed 2 more nights in the Children’s Hospital.
Thanks to the on call nurse, the triage nurse, and great doctors, Brooke is doing much better now!

First Soccer Game
Brooke played her first game yesterday – 10/3/2009. She was able to play for 3 quarters during the game.
Earlier in the week we’ve discovered that soccer may not be her game! During practice the coach had them play sharks and minnows. Brooke was picked to be a shark – taking the ball away from other players. After we explained to her what she was supposed to do, she erupted in tears. To her taking the ball was being mean and not nice! But later she had her ball taken, and found a new understanding of the game!
We’ll see how she does the rest of the season!
